Late

(Dedicated to Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Sale's students at today's coffee shop meeting)
Little sad face
Framed by a window
Still here after visiting all the stops
Grey, drizzly, sleet-filled skies
Fill his brown and lonely eyes
Big wheels whine for him
Empty green seats
Still warm from miniature bodies
Headed for home
Red circle lights flash on top
Telling other cars to stop
One car breathes exhaust with smokey puffs
A wet woman waits
Tiny sneakers joyfully leap
Over puddles inches deep
Across her worried face a smile spreads
Safe
Little sad face
Framed by a window
Still here after visiting all the stops
Grey, drizzly, sleet-filled skies
Fill his brown and lonely eyes
Big wheels whine for him
Empty green seats
Still warm from miniature bodies
Headed for home
Red circle lights flash on top
Telling other cars to stop
One car breathes exhaust with smokey puffs
A wet woman waits
Tiny sneakers joyfully leap
Over puddles inches deep
Across her worried face a smile spreads
Safe
